Warren is so Beatty-ful
JULIAN BROUWER in NEW YORKHOLLYWOOD love-rat Warren Beatty has been through more women than his fellow actors have had movie scripts during his long career at the top.
Now a bombshell new book, The Sexiest Man Alive, is finally going to lift the lid on his wild ways to tell how the star fathered two love children, persuaded Joan Collins to have an illegal abortion and caused a jilted Natalie Wood to attempt suicide.
Writer Ellis Amburn reveals how predator Beatty was having lunch at a posh Los Angeles restaurant with girlfriend Jane Fonda when he caught the eye of the young Joan Collins. A week later he called her and invited her on a dinner date which ended with Warren making non- stop love to her. "In a few years I'll be worn out!" she told a pal.
It wasn't long before Joan told him she was pregnant but even though they had been having sex five times a day, Beatty still wanted to know how on earth it could have happened. She joked:"The butler did it". Beatty, 22, ordered Collins to have an abortion, which was illegal at the time, despite the English actress's desire to keep her baby and she was driven to a dingy clinic in New Jersey.
It wasn't long before the handsome lothario had become bored of Joan and begun a torrid affair with Splendor in the Grass co-star Natalie Wood.
"They disliked each other intensely," reveals Amburn.
That is until they started filming love scenes. Sparks flew and they began an affair which led Natalie to dump husband Robert Wagner.
Things quickly went wrong when Warren took her to an important dinner and left her on her own making small talk with Alfred Hitchcock, Gregory Peck and Jimmy Stewart.
Eventually the restaurant owner had to sheepishly inform Wood that Warren had sneaked out of the back door with a buxom waitress for what turned out to be a three-day sex orgy.
Furious Natalie burned all Beatty's clothes and refused to let him in when he finally stumbled home a week later. She finally reconciled but days later he was trying to seduce her 16-year-old sister Lana in a hotel, reveals Amburn.
When the relationship broke up, Natalie tried to commit suicide by overdosing on barbiturates and had to have her stomach pumped.
Warren's next conquest was trendy British actress Julie Chrisite, whom he met in 1967 when she was filming a movie in Hollywood. But even though the couple were inseparable for a time, Beatty began cheating on her with a string of women while she was away.
In the early 1970s Amburn claims the star had a love child with a married woman - but the woman managed to pass the boy, named Duke, off as her husband's. At around the same time he is said to have fathered a little girl.
Then in the 1990s Beatty began a well-publicised fling with Dick Tracy co-star Madonna, much to the fury of volatile ex-hubby Sean Penn, who is said to have broken into the singer's Malibu home in a jealous rage and gagged her, leaving her bruised and bleeding for nine hours.
As the affair raged on, Madonna said: "Sometimes I think he's been with the world's most beautiful women. I go, 'Oh, my God!" Then there's a side of me that says I'm better than all of them."
But Warren clearly did not share the sentiment, dumping her like all the others, leaving Madonna to moan: "He tossed me aside like a piece of meat."
The woman who was to finally reign him in, Annette Bening, only wed him AFTER she had given birth to his daughter.
"The way she got Warren was by getting pregnant," a source revealed.
The couple shared another three children, though he was soon up to his old womanising tricks. When Bening noticed a curvy blonde leaving his trailer on a film set she flipped and told him: "You don't take bimbos to your dressing room." She later banned him from allowing Madonna to visit him on set.
An unrepentant Beatty once remarked: "Marriage requires a special talent, like acting - and monogamy requires genius!"
