YOUNG LOVERS GUNNED DOWN
FIONA JAMESA 53-YEAR-OLD man was being questioned by detectives yesterday after a teenage girl and her boyfriend were shot dead.
Police were called to the 15-year-old girl's home by neighbours who heard shots.
They found her already dead - but her 21-year-old boyfriend was still showing signs of life, despite suffering "terrible" head wounds.
He was airlifted to Bristol's Frenchay Hospital but died later that night.
Officers arrived at the house in Glastonbury, Somerset, shortly after 4pm.
After evacuating nearby homes they sealed off the property so forensic experts could carry out a fingertip search for clues.
Home Office pathologist Hugh White was due to carry out a post- mortem examination on both of the victims. Family liaison officers have been assigned to the their families and a murder incident room has been set up.
A neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: "It is a terrible tragedy.
"This is a quiet neighbourhood and everyone is devastated."
Police later arrested a man in connection with the shootings.
He was last night being questioned at Yeovil police station.
