Rugby Union: HADDEN'S GUNNERS BLASTED

EDINBURGH chief Frank Hadden admitted his team were 'shellshocked' in the wake of Friday's 41-3 Celtic League hammering by Ulster at Meadowbank.

On a dire night for Scotland's pro teams, Ireland pulled off a 3- 0 series triumph - with the Gunners suffering the heaviest defeat.

Coach Hadden said: "This sort of thing hasn't happened to us for a long time. We have lost only a handful of times at home over the past few years and it is a painful experience.

"The number of first time tackles that we're missing is just unacceptable. For all the attributes of having a young, enthusiastic squad, we are lacking in composure.

"We've hidden it well so far this season, but all our problems came home to roost in this game."

Glasgow boss Hugh Campbell looked back on the 26-10 loss to Munster in Cork and said: "We lost the place either side of half time.

"If we hadn't given away a try deep in stoppage time before the break I have no doubt things would have been much different."

And Borders skipper Kevin Utterson lamented his side's poor goalkicking display in their defeat by Leinster at Netherdale.

Gareth Morton and Callum MacRae wasted SEVEN chances between them, and Utterson admitted: "No matter what level you are playing at, you can't compete if you don't kick your points."
