STROP IDOL
SARAH ROBERTSONWILL Young showed his pop idol ego after issuing diva-like demands on a flying visit to Scotland.
He astounded staff at West Sound Radio station in Ayr with a list of special requests.
The 24-year-old singer from Hungerford, Berkshire, was in Scotland to play a special gig for 50 selected fans.
But he insisted on being served herbal tea in china cups, demanded various sizes and shapes of mirrors for his dressing room, and refused to use the staff loo.
A source said: "He insisted on using only the disabled toilet. We had to make him lots of herbal tea served in china cups which he then never drank. To be honest, he came across as a bit precious."
But Will, who beat Gareth Gates to clinch the first Pop Idol crown, wowed his fans by performing six new tracks from his second album, Friday's Child.
His new single, Leave Right Now, is released tomorrow.
Sporting designer stubble, a track suit top and baseball cap, he looked nothing like the clean-cut figure who shot to fame in the hit TV reality show. But he denied he was trying to change his image.
"I am not trying to escape from Pop Idol," he said. "I will always be that show's first winner and I'm proud of that. I've been watching the new Pop Idol and there are some fantastic talents on it."
Will revealed that he and his family have been regular visitors to Scotland since he was a child. "It's my kind of land and it would be great place to live," he said.
