Scott Stormo, a registered geologist and certified hydrologist, has joined the Spokane office of Dames & Moore. Stormo, who has 10 years of experience providing geologic and hazardous materials consulting services, was on the staff of the company's Ontario, Calif., office for the past five years.
Fara Snyder was named a mortgage loan officer at First Security Bank in Spokane. Snyder, who joined First Security April 1, has more than seven years of experience in the banking industry.
Lisa Crawford joined GroMedia as an associate. Crawford is a senior at Eastern Washington University and will graduate in June with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She covers commodities news for GroMedia's agricultural web site (http://www.gromedia.com).
Etter, McMahon & Lamberson, P.C., hired David Groesbeck as an associate. Groesbeck graduated from Cambridge University and Gonzaga University School of Law and previously worked as a staff attorney with Spokane Legal Services Center. He will specialize in municipal, commercial, employment and land use litigation.
Robert Law joined ICM Asset Management Inc., as general counsel and chief compliance officer. Law, a graduate of the University of Montana Law School, previously held a private practice in Spokane.
Camp World of Cars has added the following people to its staff:
Jim Driggers joined the New Chevrolet Vehicle Sales Division. Driggers has sold General Motors products for nearly 20 years, most recently as an employee of Becker Buick/GMC.
Spencer Truong will work in the Chevrolet sales force. Truong has more than two years of automotive experience in the Spokane market.
Dan Martin is a new member of the Chevy sales staff. Martin has 10 years of GM experience.
Lindy Cater has been hired as the executive director of Girl Scouts Inland Empire Council. Cater is a former executive director of the Northwest Women's Law Center in Seattle, and most recently was the development director at Planned Parenthood of Spokane and Whitman Counties.
Angie Clark, Coeur d'Alene, has been named RSVP Coordinator of the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program for Kootenai, Bonner, and Boundary counties. She specializes in recruitment and placement of senior volunteers.
Medical Service Corp. of Eastern Washington has appointed Dr. David Johnson as associate medical director. Johnson has been a practicing family physician in Eastern Washington for several years. He will be responsible for keeping MSC abreast of the latest changes and developments in medical practice and technology.
MOVING UP:
Steven Swenson was named assistant vice president and manager of First Security Bank's Mortgage Production Center in Spokane. Swenson was a mortgage loan officer at the bank and has been with First Security since 1992.
Preston Gates & Ellis named John Nelson as a new partner. Nelson practices civil litigation in the firm's Spokane office. Elizabeth Coopperwhite and Todd Reuter were both named new associates at the firm.
Washington Trust Bank announced that Adrienne Aparicio was promoted to assistant vice president. Aparicio will continue her responsibilities as supervisor of loan underwriting and secondary marketing for the bank's Home Loan Center.
STARTING UP:
Susan Buerkens and David Nehen opened a law office at 8606 N. Wall. The practice will emphasize elder law and estate planning. Both are members of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
The William Craig Co., which provides real estate appraisal services, will open its seventh Washington state office in Spokane, at 9213 E. Mission. The Spokane office will be managed by Eric Hart, and Scott Hoagland will serve as marketing director.
TRANSACTIONS:
Steven Black and Associates Insurance Inc., and The Nelson Agency, both of Spokane, have merged. The Nelson Agencies have operated in Spokane since 1951. Black has been operating his own agency in Spokane since 1991.
ICF Kaiser Hanford Co. has awarded a roofing contract worth $97,833 to Krueger Sheet Metal Co. of Spokane. The contract is for work on three buildings located at the Hanford Site's 200 West Area. About 10,850 square feet of new roofing material will be installed.
ELECTED:
The Spokane Regional International Trade Alliance has elected its first board of directors and officers.
Elected to serve as officers and members of the executive committee are: John Wagner, Seafirst Bank, president; Pete Kerwien, Washington Water Power, vice president; Bob Beschel, Winston & Cashatt, secretary; and Gordon Budke, Coopers & Lybrand, treasurer.
Elected to serve as members of the board are: Roger Crum, City of Spokane; Howard Granger, Port of Seattle; Klaus Huschke, Itron; Rick James, Kaiser; Jim Lee, Wagstaff Engineering; Jo Ann Nielsen, Whitworth College; Doug Smith, Buckeye Beans; Ed Tsutakawa, Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute; and Rich Hadley, Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce.
Tom Staley, president and CEO of Food Services of America, Spokane, was elected to a three-year term on the Board of Food Distributors International, formerly the National-American Wholesale Grocers' Association/ International Foodservice Distributors Association (NAWGA/IFDA).

KUDOS:
Spokane Coors distributor, B&B Distributors, was recognized by Coors Brewing Co. for outstanding sales performance in 1995. The employees of B&B Distributors produced the top sales volume increase in Washington last year. The award was presented to Ted Rusnak, president of B&B Distributors.
Sedgwick Noble Lowndes announced the winners of its 1995 Office of the Year Awards. The Spokane benefits consulting operations, led by Michael Reilly, won the top award for offices in its category in a national ranking of employee benefits operations.
Travel Management Inc. (TMI), of Coeur d'Alene, was awarded the 1996 Travel Agency Achievement Award for Best Travel Industry Newsletter in the United States, by Travel Weekly, the industry's premiere newspaper. Rhonda Sand, is the agency owner and Cherri Babbitt, is their corporate sales manager.
Don Ball, a grain and legume producer from Potlatch, Idaho, has received the Environmental Stewardship Award from Idaho Gov. Phil Batt. The award is one of four 1996 Governor's Awards for Excellence in Agriculture.
