The Spokane office of Lutheran Social Services of Washington and Idaho has added the following people to its staff:

Lori Meier has been hired as development director. Meier previously served as a sales representative with Xerox Corp. in San Francisco, Seattle and Spokane and holds a bachelor's degree in business from Whitworth College. Courtney Susemiehl was named public relations director. Susemiehl, who received a bachelor's degree in general studies from Eastern Washington University, most recently worked with the American Red Cross in public relations and development. MOVING UP: Kathryn "Kate" Eaton has been promoted to human resources director (level II) at the Spokane office of Lutheran Social Services of Washington and Idaho. Eaton, a graduate of St. Olaf College who joined Lutheran Social Services in 1994, previously worked for Healthcare Inc. in Spokane as a human resources specialist. Teamster's Union Local No. 582 has appointed Denny Young as secretary-treasurer and principal officer. Young, who has been a Teamster since 1966, joined the staff of the local in 1991 as a full-time business representative. Earlier he served as a trustee and vice president of the Teamster Executive Board. Young replaces Richard Solberg, who retired at the end of last year. Premier Marketing LLC has promoted Angela Via to general manager. Via has more than four years of experience in outbound telemarketing and was previously the operations manager for the company. She is a graduate of Spokane Community College. Gonzaga University's Jesuit community has appointed The Rev. Scott W. Coble, S.J., as rector. Coble is an assistant professor of math and computer science. As rector, he will oversee the day-to-day activities and operations of the Jesuit community, which includes 60 priests and brothers. STARTING UP: Gail Johnson has opened a State Farm Insurance office in downtown Spokane. The new office is located at 301 W. Main, Suite 2. The Spokane Valley Leads Club will be officially chartered during a meeting at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Red Lion in the Valley. First organized in 1978, Leads Clubs provide a network through which business professionals can increase their referrals. Beth Ann Daigre will be founding director of the new club, and Jan Jones will serve as assistant director. For more information or reservations, call Daigre at 921-9581. ELECTED: The Inland Northwest Electrical League (INEL) has elected 1997 officers and directors. Officers are: president, Larry Bryant, Kootenai Electric Cooperative; president-elect, Barbara Bjerke, Graybar Electric; secretary, Mike Mollison, City of Spokane; treasurer, Rod Wolff, Cutler Hammer; and past president, David Bowman, Hubbell Inc. Directors include: Steve Helms, DEI Electrical Consultants; Mike Holehan, Rainbow Electric; Mark Kovacevich, Consolidated Electrical Distributors; and Charlie Weber, City of Cheney. Washington state wheat producers elected new association line officers for 1997. They are: George Wood, Dayton, Wash., president; Alex McGregor, president of the McGregor Co., vice president; and Walt Neff, Franklin County, secretary-treasurer. TRANSACTIONS: Travel Enterprises, a Spokane-based travel agency owned by Cecily Wright, has merged with Uniglobe Adventure in Travel, a Spokane Valley travel agency owned by Gus and Carol Simpson. The combined agency, which will have a staff of eight, will operate from Uniglobe's Valley office. Wright, who started Travel Enterprises in 1985, will remain with the merged company, initially in an operations position and then in customer relations and sales. KUDOS: The Inland Northwest Sheet Metal Contractors Association will provide a $1,000 scholarship for Rick Schrader of Pro Heating to attend SMACNAs Business Management/Technical University in Tempe, Ariz., next month. Dr. Cheryle R. Hart has become a member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians (ASBP). Hart, who is also a board certified gynecologist, is currently the medical director of the Women's Workshop. Established in 1950, the ASBP provides physicians with continuing education on the medical treatment of obesity and its associated conditions.
