New faces:

Richard Totten has joined Jones & Mitchell Insurance and Risk Management as an agent. Totten, who received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Eastern Washington University, has five years of insurance experience in Western Washington.

JacklinGolf named Lee Hetrick as manager of marketing and golf development. Hetrick has more than 20 years of experience in the golf and turf industries and most recently served as associate project coordinator for Keith Foster Golf Course Design in St. Louis, Mo. He is a former Class `A' PGA professional. Dr. Linda Wood has joined the staff of the Animal Clinic of Spokane. Wood is a 1976 graduate of the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has served as an emergency clinician in Boston and has been in practice in Spokane for the past 10 years. The Pages of Harmony, Spokane's chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, has appointed Stan McDaniel as its new director. McDaniel served in churches in North Carolina, California and Alabama as a full-time minister of music before moving to Spokane in 1988. He is a former minister of music at First Presbyterian Church and currently holds a similar position at Millwood Presbyterian Church. Moving up: Bruce Nelson has been appointed president of Colville-based Colmac Coil Manufacturing Inc. Nelson joined Colmac in 1981 as a research and development engineer, became chief engineer in 1986 and was promoted to vice president in 1990. He replaces Edward Ames as president. Ames received the title of past president. Jeri Schaffner has been named director of sales for the Coeur d'Alene Inn and Conference Center. Schaffner has been with the Hagadone Hospitality Corp. for 10 years. She previously was regional sales manager at the Coeur d'Alene Resort for nine years, and then director of catering. The following Spokane employees of Piper Jaffray Inc. have been elected officers: David A. Inchauspe, formerly assistant vice president-investments, was elected vice president-investments; and Steven M. Nowland, investment executive, was elected assistant vice president-investments. Meghan Wiley has been named assistant general manager of the 85-room Holiday Inn Express in Pullman. Wiley has five years of experience in the hospitality industry and was previously sales manager for the Holiday Inn Express in Pullman and guest services supervisor for the Crystal Sands Resort on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Starting up: Minnesota Mutual has opened a Spokane credit union service office with Sherry Deeds as manager. Deeds will provide value-added, cross-selling support and service to all of the St.Paul-based insurance company's credit union clients in Idaho, Montana and Eastern Washington. Deeds, who has five years of experience in the financial services field, previously held a training position at a financial institution. Adrienne Wilson, a registered mental health counselor, has opened a practice at 1217 S. Reeves, offering classes in integrative breathwork, neuro-linguistic programming and individual, couples or group sessions on topics including self-esteem, communication skills, stress-related pain and depression. Wilson received a master's degree in guidance and counseling from Whitworth College and a bachelor's degree in applied psychology from Eastern Washington University. Transactions: The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded $1,411,700 to the local office of the Volunteers of America (VOA). The award was made after a competitive application process among non-profit organizations in HUD's Region X, which covers Washington, North Idaho and parts of Oregon. The money will be used to fund the construction of apartment housing for the chronically mentally ill. Kiemle and Hagood Co. was the consultant in the preparation of the application and will oversee the development and management of the final project. Moving: Bank & Office Interiors is relocating its office to 610 E. North Foothills Drive. The move is scheduled for Friday. Elected: The American Society of Training and Development has elected a chapter president and board of directors. Anne Rettenmier-Watts, the Adult Literacy Satellite Program project coordinator for Educational Service District 101, will serve as the 1997 chapter president. Board members are: president-elect, Jennifer Salmon; vice president of finance, Cathy Towne; vice president of membership, Colleen King; vice president of programs, Joel Peabody; vice president of communications, Kathi Satterlee; vice presidents of public relations, Jennifer Leake and Terry Ziemantz; and secretary, Curt Nead. Kudos: Louis Janke, Colville National Forest facilities engineer, has been named 1996 Regional Technical Engineer of the Year by the USDA Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region. The award recognizes Janke's technical expertise, leadership in engineering management and community service throughout northeast Washington. He will represent the region as nominee for National Technical Engineer of the year. Janke has worked for the Colville National Forest since 1977. Opportunities: Padgett Business Services is offering a $500 scholarship to the son or daughter of a local independent business owner planning to attend a post-secondary accredited institution.
