Football: Kirk stunned by Lisburn display
DAVID HUNTERLISBURN Distillery boss Paul Kirk believed his side made "Too many bad decisions" as they suffered a second successive home defeat yesterday.
That may have been the case, but nothing could be taken away from Limavady United, whose boss Tommy Wright was sent from the dugout after 40 minutes for "foul and abusive language" by referee Adrian McCourt.
Limavady's hero was Paul Brown who netted on 78 minutes to see United secure their first ever league victory over the Whites.
The big number 10 had always looked a threat, ending up in the net himself minus the ball in first-half injury time and then forcing Phil Matthews into a good save on 61 minutes.
Unmarked on 78 minutes, he steadied himself and fired Ryan McIlmoyle's pass beyond the diving Matthews.
It was a poor game and one goal was always going to decide it, but the Whites', who had chances, either missed the target or failed to really test United keeper Michael Doherty.
Peter Withnell had a few half chances early on, but the proved to be the chief culprit was Mark Holland.
On 55 minutes, Holland swivelled but with a defender tight to him, he fired over and 20 minutes later he somehow shot over from very close range.
Tommy Wright said: "Not too many teams come here and win but I thought that we fully deserved it."
