摘要:Pressure on energy resources was never as high as it has been in last years. Various studies point out that continuing the "business as usual” is not sustainable. There are environmental, economic, security, and also moral reasons that guide us to increase considerably the efficiency of energy generation and end-use and to increase the supply from indigenous sources. Renewable energies (mainly those based on globally abundant biomass, wind and solar resources) provide an alternative that will revitalise social, economic and environmental welfare in regions of both developing and developed countries. The market of energy technologies based on renewable sources is still in its infancy and the barriers of growth to be overcome are mainly of economic, social and structural nature. The scale-up of renewables needs an introduction of legislative and financial measures by governments, supported by information campaigns. The EU has been playing a leading role in supporting the renewables. An ambitious goal was set up by the European Commission for each member state to increase the share of renewable sources on electricity production up to 22 % in the EU by year 2010. An implementation of particular support measures depends on specific conditions of each country, but to date some of the most successful are considered to be the electricity feed-in tariffs, tuned for each individual technology. A positive experience in European countries, such as Germany, Denmark, Austria and Spain, demonstrates that renewables provide a real opportunity also for new members of the EU. Analysing this experience, adopting a new legislation and financial programmes, Slovakia can join the group of the most successful countries in near future.
