摘要:Knowledge and specification of the characteristic landscape features need the prior elaboration of the cultural landscape typology (variety of landscape types), that is more complicated than the typology of natural landscape. Some typologies of the diversity and land-use use in its wide diapazone have been elaborated within the frame of European research. Also Slovakia pays attention to this issue mainly after the adoption of the European Landscape Convention (2005). Significant indicators of landscape typology used in Slovakia are: natural conditions, natural resources, natural and cultural phenomena, from which the types and regions can be separated and at the same time established the representative, valuable and unique landscape types. Based on them there can be identified the sites with conserved traditional forms of management, historical landscape structures documenting single stages of social development that need special attention and could be proposed to the List of World Cultural and Natural Heritage. They create the landscape phenomena on the borderline of cultural and natural landscape. The landscape typology of Slovakia is not the aim but it is the tool how to reach better management of the landscape, increase the awareness of landscape values and plan its further sustainable development.
