  • 摘要:In this paper, we focus on the current development of alpine lakes in the area of The High Tatras Mts. which represent one of the highest glacier-modeled mountains of the Western Carpathians. Alpine lakes represent an important relict of glacial morphogenesis and currently also important hydric biotopes with water supplies for functioning of cirque and glacial trough ecosystems. Recently, the development of alpine lakes has been influenced by processes of siltation and debris deposition. The period after the retreat of glaciers offered enough time for the development of processes significantly lowering the ridges of the Tatras and clearly causing the regression of slopes, especially in head of valleys. These conditions determine storing of deposition of material of different morphodynamic processes, such as avalanches, rock-shedding and falling, debris flows and processes associated with fluvial and proluvial accumulation. Our goal in this context is to establish a procedure for evaluation of alpine lakes according to the potential of deposition and to attempt to classify them according to relevant environmental criteria.
