摘要：Habitats protection of agricultural or forest, alpine landscapes is the hot topic that has been studied at the Institute of Landscape Ecology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (ILE SAS) since its establishment. The need to address this issue has arisen from the biodiversity loss and the threats to many natural and semi-natural habitats that have been destroyed, or are still threatened. The topic of biodiversity, land use changes, need for its protection and habitat management has been the subject of several PhD theses and many national and international projects solved at ILE SAS. Biodiversity and habitat mapping is closely related to the evaluation of vegetation and ecosystem signifiance and function. This issue is developing in ecosystem services assessment.
