摘要：The paper reviews history and current activities performed within the Long-Term Ecological Research programme (LTER) in Slovakia. Institute of Landscape Ecology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (ILE SAS) initiated establish- ment of the national network LTER Slovakia and established own LTER sites: Báb, Jalovecká dolina and Tatras – alpine summits. In the paper detailed information about research in these sites is provided. Besides a study of the ecosystem processes, also an experimental approach is used: manipulation of nitrogen deposition and temperature, and simulation of diffrent intensity of trampling. Slovakia was very active in activities of the Central and Eastern European network for LTER: it organised three regional workshops and hosted the secretariat of the LTER CEE till 2007. Afterwards, Slovakia has been participating in the activities of the European network LTER-Europe and the global network ILTER.
