摘要:This article builds on Citko’s (2005) Parallel Merger (PM) analysis of Right Node Raising (RNR) constructions in English, and argues that, unlike standard RNR (SRNR) constructions, focused RNR (FRNR) constructions, in which the sentence-final element gains phonologically and semantically focal interpretation, are derived through two kinds of discourse-related movements in the phase-based cartographic CP configuration. I will demonstrate that the proposed analysis can straightforwardly account for many of the syntactic differences between these two types of RNR constructions.
