摘要:This work aims to show the articulation of the different intonation patterns found in the northern Spain, from Galicia to Cantabria. As we shall see,in this area does not exist a homogeneous prosodic basis. Throughout the course of history, there were diverse koneization processes which turned out as different patterns in which Castilian elements were mixed to some northern elements. As Canellada (1944,1984) pointed out, these features have been clearly maintained in the entire north of Spain — Galicia,Asturias,Cantabria,Basque Country,Navarre and Aragón— although with variable levels of vitality. In fact,Canellada characterizes the western group by reference to the presence of yes-no questions with a falling final contour. As a consequence of this complexity,we find that the intonation patterns are not homogeneous, but rather show various degrees of interference. The dialect-standard language dimension and the levelling processes are particularly relevant: the Castilian pattern acquires features of the northern one and vice versa. Nonetheless, the orientation of this levelling depends not only on geolectal variety but also on sociolinguistics and migrant flows.
