  • 摘要:Nowadays,an increasing demand for such products as 3D models of various objects is observed. Terrestrial digital imaging is an outstanding source of data for creating such models,as they can be acquired cheaply,easily and fast. There is a lot of commercial software allowing the creation of spatial models of objects. Free software,which is being developed concurrently is less functional but can be useful when creating models of certain objects. An example of an interesting free application that can be applied for modeling is the Microsoft Photosynth. It allows the generation of a cloud of points from a set of non-metric photos,not demanding a photogrammetric knowledge from the user. In this work,models created from point clouds generated by Photosynth were evaluated. In order to conduct the evaluation,a reference models were created using a professional photogrammetric software – PhotoModeler Scanner. The verification included a visual analysis and calculation of Euclidean distances between nodes of reference and the meshes compared. The comparison was performed using the VRMesh software. The results of the research show that the terrain models generated using the Photosynth point clouds can be used in many applications,especially when top accuracy is not demanded.
