摘要:Diethyl ether (DEE) is one of the alternative fuels that can be used in diesel engines with renewable, high cetane number, energy density at reasonable level, high oxygen content, low ignition temperature and high volatility. In this study, the effects of DEE-Diesel mixtures on engine performance and emissions characteristics in a single-cylinder, direct-injection, water-cooled diesel engine was investigated experimentally. DEE-diesel mixtures were prepared at different mass ratios as DEE3 (3% DEE + 97% Diesel), DEE5 (5% DEE) and DEE7 (7% DEE). Experimental studies were carried out under full load conditions using diesel fuel and DEE-diesel mixtures at 1000, 1300, 1600, 1900 and 2000 rpm engine speeds. As a result of the studies, it has been found that, when DEE blends are used as fuel, in engine torque and effective power decrease, the specific fuel consumption and the effective efficiency improvement compared to standard engine datas. It has been found that NOx and smoke emissions, which are major problems for diesel engines, decrease considerably.
