摘要：This article aims to present a complex literature review of recent studies on the role of international institutions in democracy promotion. The articles analyzed were selected through a previous bibliometric study conducted on the Web of Science platform. Based on the considerations obtained through the literature raised, the main gaps and contradictions in the studies in question were identified, suggesting at the end a research agenda for future works.
