摘要：The article analyzes the experience of the Mari Archaeological Expedition from 2011 to 2016 to delineate the boundaries of cultural (archaeological) heritage sites by applying the methodology recommended by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Practical experience helped generating a number of recommendations on how to improve some techniques applied to different types of sites on the territory of Mari El. The author made a few proposals on how to bring methodological provisions in compliance with the Field Regulations of the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the relevant legislation on protection of cultural heritage.
