摘要:We attempt to show that a classical concern of formal semantics, quantification, interacts in an interesting
way with dialogue strategies when viewed from the perspective of our approach to semantics
using Type Theory with Records (TTR). TTR analyzes semantic content in terms of structured semantic
objects containing subcomponents and we argue that these components influence what a
dialogue participant can take up in response to a reprise of part of a previous utterance of a quantified
sentence. The discussion builds on previous work by Purver and Ginzburg who introduce the
Reprise Content Hypothesis and use it to argue for a particular analysis of quantification. In previous
work we contrasted their approach with a more classical generalized quantifier analysis. In the
present paper we synthesize the two approaches and suggest that this gives us the best account of
the reprise phenomena associated with quantification.
