摘要:According to Human Development Index (HDI),in the mat- ter of quality in education.Indonesia is ranked the 102* among the 106 countries surveyed.Even now dissatisfaction is still felt at all educational levels.Universities are still incapable of pro- ducing graduates ready for the job market and the global compe- tition.Students are not quite able to link or relate one academic subject to another and even less abie to apply in reai life what they learn from the subjects.Therefore,they should be equipped with subjects based on life skills.Additive Substance Chemistry is one of the subjects taught in the Chemistry Course Program of the Department of Chemistry Education,Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Sciences,State University of Yogyakarta Its materials are based on society's actual needs and presented in the form of topics and sub-topics of materials providing knowledge of additive substance chemistry and class assignments enabling students to apply it on various life skills.The teaching process should be motivating so that creative ideas will come from students.Teaching materials in the class of Additive Substance Chem- istry based on life skills would considerably help students acquire the ability to apply the theories they get in class in real life in society They would be able to give help to society and to help make themseives become useful in society.
