摘要：Semiotics,as a general science of signs and their interpretation,took important steps in deciphering the language of landscapes in terms of text and sign.A t their turn,signs can be discussed in the terms of a triad – icon,index,and symbol.The paper summarizes these concepts and applies them to the landsca pe architecture.
