摘要：The bio-geographical characteristics of the Ribnica river canyon in the area of Valjevo karst were presented in the paper with the aim to show the bio-geographical values and their significance and point to the problems of the insufficient and necessary protection of described area. The basic physical-geographical characteristics of the gorge were presented and it was pointed to the characteristics of the spatial distribution, richness and rarities of flora and fauna of this region. Finally, the emphasis was put on the significance of biogeography of the local milieu, rarity in it and its protection.
