摘要：Research and Development(R&D)projectwas used to develop lecturers’English competenceparticularlyonspeakingandwritingatStateInstituteofIslamicStudiesofImam Bonjol Padang.ThelecturersneedtodeveloptheircompetenceinEnglishinordertopreparethemselvesto addnewinformationoflecturingmaterialsandwritingpapers.BorgandGall’sstepswereusedto developthemodel.Twentyactivelecturerswhohads2ands3program,whowererandomlyselected, participatedonthisresearch.Duringtheprocessoftheresearch,observation,questionnaire,and TOEFLtest,speakingandwritingtestswereusedtocollectthedata.Theexperimentalresearchtype andonegrouppretest-posttestdesignwereusedtoconducttheresearch.Theresultoftheresearch showedthat74% ofrespondentsneedintensiveclasstrainingmodeltodeveloptheirEnglish competence.Theimplementationofintensiveclasstrainingmodelgaveasignificanteffecttoward lecturers’Englishcompetence.Itisconcludedthatthismodelismoreeffectivetoimprovelecturers’ onEnglishcompetences.Therefore,itisrecommendedthatthismodelcanbeimplementedatIAIN ImamBonjolPadanginordertodeveloplecturers’Englishcompetencesandtoenhancethequalityof lecturers.
