摘要：The fertility of migrants has been getting much attention in the demographic studies of recent decades. This is due, first, to the growth of global migration, which gives this topic a special relevance for population forecasting. At the same time, the fertility of migrants is of interest for broader modern studies of intercultural communications, behavioral transformations, etc. In Russian social science, the study of migrants’ fertility still occupies a very marginal position, despite the abundance of relevant data available in Russia. The goal of the present paper is to provide a brief overview of studies of the fertility parameters of migrants and their descendants. The paper includes three sections. The first section presents the key hypotheses concerning the influence of migration on fertility, and gives a general idea about the possibilities for their verification, as well as about their theoretical context. The second section deals with quantitative methods and models commonly used in studies of the fertility of migrants. The third section reviews selected studies of the fertility of migrants in several countries, with a view towards giving an idea of the diversity of fertility dynamics observed in emigrant communities.
