摘要:Since it is known that DEXA shows good correlation with underwater weighing,仕 was aimed to obtain specific regression equations for the obese population assuming fa t % by DEXA as a criterion, and using circumference, ultrasonographic and skinfold measurements. The study was carried out on a group of 30 fem ales aged 18-44.BMI was accepted to be a reliable parameter in assessing their degree of fatness.A BMI score higher than 30 kg∕m 2 was accepted as the obesity criterion.DEXA and S F methods were used to determine body fat ratio, whereas US and SF methods were applied to evaluate subcutaneous fat thickness. When compared with various SF methods,DEXA revealed the highest correlation with DW-1.However,its use was not practical in the sub jects in question, due to the limitation in the number of measurement sites.DW-3 was considered to be more appropriate.Regression equations obtained using SF measurements, and DEXA as a criterion, were not found to be suitable for the population in question, since they made use of a limited number of sites which may also surpass measurement ranges. When DEXA fat ratios and US data are considered, the equations obtained using six or seven sites of circumference measurements were accepted to be more reliable fo r our subjects. In conclusion, the DEXA method was considered to be appropriate to determine the % body fa t of the obese population in question.
