摘要:Tibial tubercle avulsion fracture is considered as a relatively uncommon adolescent injury. This type of injury occurs mainly during sport activities and usually is caused by sudden violent contraction of the quadriceps muscles, especialy during a jump.We report two such cases;the first case was a 13-year-old boy with a Ogden type-III fracture and the second case was a 16-year-old boy with a Ogden type-III B fracture of the tibial tuberosity. The latter had also a lateral meniscus tear. They both underwent open reduction and internal fixation of the bone injuries and the τneniscal tear of the second case was also successfully repaired.Follow up was three and two years for each case, respectively. Both cases regained full ROM and reported no pain or limitation of activity and returned to sports.None developed genu recurvatum deformity or leg legth discrepancy due to the injury.Open reduction and internal fixation is the treatment of choice in displaced intraarticular fractures.Associated injuries like meniscal tears and chondral fractures should also be considered especially in type-III injuries.
