摘要:This research was to identify critical thinking skills that performed by students on biology teaching on topic of ecosystem using newspaper. This research was a descriptive one. The subject of this research was grade VII students of SMP PIRI Ngaglik,Sleman,academic year of2007/2008. Critical thinking skills data was collected through observation and analysis of arguments,as well as context-keywords that expresed by students based on discourse from the newspaper. Data analyzed descriptively with percentages. Research results showed that students’ critical thinking skills emerged on three indicators,there were identifying and describing problems,analyzing relevant data to the problems,and constructing inferences,which each indicator was dominantly categorized to weak and unacceptable level.
