This study is based exclusively on literary sources that clearly support the claim for feminine violence and lesbianism. I have chosen as a fundamental text, Luis Vélez de Guevara’s La Serrana de la Vera written in 1613. In the text there are three distinct levels of female deviance which contrast with the traditional and conventional: 1) the masculine nature of the protagonist; 2) the protagonist always questions with words or actions her female identity; and 3) the amorous inclination of the protagonist towards women. There is a fourth level that is linked to the first: the extreme violence of the protagonist as a result of vengeance.
