摘要：RESUMEN: Se estudia una fuente asturiana fechable en la Alta Edad Media (ss. VIII-IX). A través de los paralelos presentados, tanto técnicos como tipológicos, se pone de manifiesto la perduración de la tradición constructiva de la Antigüedad. En segundo lugar, se exponen los argumentos epigráficos que permiten rechazar la hipótesis tradicional, que atribuye la construcción de este monumento al rey Alfonso III (866-910), a la vez que se propone una fecha en torno a la transición entre los siglos VIII y IX. Por último, se realiza un análisis tipológico y funcional de la construcción que permite interpretarla como una estructura destinada a la toma de baños. ABSTRACT: An Asturian fountain that dates from the Early Middle Ages (8th - 9th centuries) is studied in this article. It is shown from the suggested technical and typological parallels that the constructive tradition of this building comes from Classical Antiquity. In view of the epigraphical arguments, I put into question the traditional hypothesis, which claims king Alfonso III to be the builder of the monument. In this respect, I propose a different date for its erection, which may be the transition of the eighth and nineth centuries. Lastly, the typological and functional analysis has allowed me to interpret this structure as a bath building.
