标题：Androcentrism and public space: exploratory analysis on the under-representation of women in the urban nomenclature of the City of Buenos Aires

摘要：With the advent of the modern industrial order, public space was instituted as a sphere of male domination. Accordingly, through out history, cities were marked materially and symbolically by those men who constitute the hegemonic center of social life and who have assumed public space as their own. Assuming that cities constitute true macrotexts capable of being read and interpreted, this study offers a first approach to the ways in which the persistent gender asymmetries in our societies find continuity in the symbolic weft of cities. With this purpose, we present a quantitative analysis of the urban nomenclature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires that, assuming a gender perspective, investigates the ways and degrees in which women are taken in in the names of the streets of this city.
