In the last years it has been documented beer in several bell-beakers from the Iberian Peninsula. It could be though that this confirms Sherratt's hipothesis about alcohol and bell-beakers. But we are going to argue that it has no sense. The bell beaker beer is not a novelty. In West Mediterranean we have neolithic beer made with barley. And we also have neolithic honey, a self-fermenting product quite suitable for made alcohol: mead. Another products suitables to make alcoholic drinks are present as well, like the wild grape, documented in ancient neolithic sites. It is not necessary to supose an oriental diffusion of brewing. It is also argued, that we can not assume without criticism that beer is a hig value product in bell-beaker times.
