摘要：This work deals with the historicity that originated and made possible the realization of the Program for the Eradication of Child Labor in Brazil, presenting the trajectory of the main public policies, national and international, that fomented the debate on the social rights of children and adolescents victims of child labor, in the last decades. Based on the available literature and with access to materials and public documents made available by the Municipal Secretariat of Public Policies of Santa Cruz do Sul, it is presented the path traveled until the constitution of COMPETI in the city. Finally, from the analysis of empirical data collected, contributions are presented on the possibilities of intervention of the commission, highlighting the care to be taken to ensure its effectiveness..
