  • 摘要:he visible light communication (VLC) is a field of study and application very large today, it is considered a technology that works favorably as a complement to the communication of millimeter waves (mmWave) especially in short distance communications for networks 5th generation VLC is composed of multiple features that meet the demands of 5th generation technologies for high capacity, speed in data transmission, spectral and energy efficiency, reduced battery consumption and decreased latency. These badges include, but are not restricted to the abundant spectrum that is free of license, the ease of providing large data rates of Gbps, reduction of energy consumption and costs accessible of implementation. This article is focused on the knowledge, development and new advances of Li-Fi technology in wireless communications. Li-Fi is a base that contributes to the effective application of technology, in accordance with the requirements of a world in which telecommunications grow by leaps and bounds. Finally, it is discussed through a comparison of mmWare with VLC in 5th generation networks, to determine the most suitable technology used in VLC downlink communications.
