  • 摘要:Locally sourced plants are indigenous plants with optimum health condition, betterenvironmental tolerance and these plants are cost effective. A total of 8 plants andthe effects of specific plant part in the removal of dye from effluent are compiled inthis review. Removal of dye is an important in step in the treatment of effluent priorto discharge in order to maintain a safe environment. Coagulation using commercialcoagulants is the most widely applied technique in the treatment. However,conventional coagulants are pH sensitive and they generate higher sludge volume.Natural coagulants are more effective in treating effluent as they do not alter the pHand produce low sludge volume that can be used as eco-products. Thus naturalcoagulants are economical and eco-friendly. The present review provides a newinsight into the potential of locally sourced plants as alternatives to chemicalcoagulants in effluent treatment processes.
