摘要:This quasi-experimental research is based on the so-called PSMR, known as Problem-Solving Method as Research, for students aged between 13 and 14 in Ecology (2nd course of Secondary School). For that purpose, a unit focused on the resolution of contextualized open-ended problems was designed. Drawing on the reports studied, the learning outcomes from the experimental group in competence dimensions was analyzed when dealing with the solution of a closed exercise and was later compared to those students who were instructed by means of traditional methodology. The data collected highlight that the experimental group reached optimum levels in all the dimensions of the scientific competence by solving those ecological problems in a more complete and methodical way than those of the control group.
