摘要：「JICST科学技術用語シソーラス」1981年版の発行を機会に，同シソーラス中の有機化合物用語の構成，索引方式ならびに新たにサービスを開始したリンク検索の機能について解説を行う。数100万にものぼる有機化合物を，シソーラスを用いて索引するには，ディスクリプタの組み合わせによるほかなく，その組み合わせ規則はかなりの量となり，索引・検索作業にはかなりの困難を伴う。このような制約はJICSTシソーラスだけがもつものでなく，他のシソーラスあるいはフリータームその他の方式を用いても同様で，有機化合物のもつ宿命といえる。本文では，JICST方式による有機化合物の索引方式を中心に具体例を多く用いて解説を行う。
其他摘要：On the occasion of publishing 1981 edition of JICST Thesaurus on Science & Technology this paper describes the term organization of organic compounds included in this Thesaurus, the indexing method of the organic compounds and the retrieval function by link which has been initiated. Originally there is no indexing method other than combining descriptors in order to represent millions of organic compounds by use of a thesaurus. The huge amount of the combination rules makes indexing and retrieving considerably difficult. This burden is inevitable to organic compounds so that not only JICST Thesaurus but also other thesauri or methods such as free terms cause the same trouble for their indexing and retrieving. JICST method of indexing organic compounds is explained along with a lot of examples.
