摘要：大学の研究者にとって必要な学術情報は,従来の大学図書館機能だけでは十分に入手できなくなった。現在は,ネットワーク化した大学図書館サービスや,学術データベース提供サービスを活用することにより学術情報が確保できる。一方,研究の進展によりまた情報メディア·通信の発達により,研究コミュニティの情報など新しい情報の蓄積·提供や,BBS·電子メールによる情報交換などが盛んに行われ始めている。学術情報の流れはより早く,より多様になっており,次世代の情報インフラストラクチャーのあり方が問題となりつつある。
其他摘要：Traditional university libraries are no longer sufficient information providers in the academic world. Academic researchers are now requested not only to visit the networked-library but also to access database services. In addition the advance in science research and the development of information technology opened up new information field and brought new communication tool among researchers. Information flow in this world becomes so fast and wide that we need the prospect of next generation information infrastructure.
