其他摘要:The purpose of this study was to analyze the peculiarities of morphological growths and functional developments of Japanese children form 1O to 14 years old; to observe the phenomenon of so-called "ascelalation" in growth; and to clarify the age difference between the urban and the rural children in functional developments; and to clarify the relationship between morphological growths and functional developments by the relative growth on the investigation which was performed in the 1956〜60, 1964〜68, and l971〜74. The materials used for this study were the longitudinal data of the height, weight, grip strength, standing-long-jump, standing-trunk-flexion, side-step and vital capacity of 316 boys and 283 girls in urban areas, 110 boys and 84 girls in rural areas. The results obtained were as follows; 1. Larger growth of Japanese children, boys and girls, were significantly evident in recent years, and the tendency toward larger growth is still going on. 2. The peak of increments in height from year to year in boys, both in urban and in rural areas, in 1964〜68 and 1971〜74 appeared in the same age (11〜12 years old). 3. There existed some differences in children's development of side-step, vital-capacity, and grip-strength according to area and sex. However, modern children, both in urban and in rural cities, showed superiority to those in the older period. 4. An unbalanced development in height vs. grip-strength relationship was observed after children reached to the height of 152 centimeters. The critical point on standing-long-jump vs. height curves appeared more lately among recent children. Therefore, the muscular-strength to carry the larger body-weight was supposed not grow in proportion to morphological growth. There was almost no age difference concerning vital capacity vs. height.
