摘要：At present lhe intensive agricultore is carrled out for lhe majority of countries, using conventional or industrial technology, in order to maximize agriculturaI production and consequently to get good earns in monocultures, wilhout taking in account lhe negative effects oftbis practice over lhe environment and society. The industrial technology is applied in intensive agriculture in order to increase production, tbis type of agribusiness is applied also in lhe culture ofbavanan chili in lhe municipality of Peto, Yucatan. This practice has carried out negative consequences to lhe regional economy as well as to lhe farmers and to lhe local environment. These problems where detected in a forum organized for lhe farmers ofPeto. Due to lhe negative effects oflhe conventional technology used in lhe cultivation ofbavanan chili, it is recommended lhe application of organic agriculture in Peto, as well as in olhers municipalities ofYucatan, wilh lhe aim offarming in barmony wilh lhe environment; to pull down lhe high cost ofconventional technology as well as lhe dependence ofexternal inputs, in order to get a production wilhout toxic substances. On lhe olher hand, wilh lhese practices we are looking for olher alternatives in oroer to improve lhe standards of living of poor Peto's farmers.
