摘要：This study aimed to present the studies that used the Symptom Checklist (SCL) to evaluate psychofunctional symptoms infants. Were detailed the countries that the studies were carried out, the design of the articles and the main variables associated. Therefore, a critical review of the literature was performed, considering works that used the SCL instrument. It was found that the prevalence of symptoms of infants, is still unknown in Brazil and abroad, although there is a predominance of studies in the European context. Although the SCL can be used in various types of research designs, longitudinal studies were predominant. The findings also allowed to question the psychometric properties of the instrument. It is suggested to carry out new studies, as well as an expansion in the use and divulgation of SCL, since the instrument allows a comprehensive and detailed assessment of health and child development.
