摘要：General Franco has only done one state visit abroad: he visited Salazar’s Portugal in October 1949 with the objective of ending his international isolation. This work assesses the media coverage of this visit by four newspapers: ABC , Arriba , Diário de Notícias and Diário da Manhã . Both the Portuguese and Spanish press were subject to censorship and have contributed to main objective of this visit. In this work, these newspapers are compared, and a quantitative and qualitative analysis is provided. We have concluded a homogeneity of their narratives and of the supported leitmotiv . The Portuguese press has provided a more extensive coverage, and the oficial newspapers are presented as press for ideological combat.
