摘要:The aim of this essay is the analysis of the development of the concept of “Scientific Painting” through one of its most representative Spanish figures: José Parada y Santín. His theoretical framework and methodology will be considered. Moreover, an evaluation of his real achievement of his theory through his painting will be carried out. Finally, an analysis of his disciple’s art work José Gutiérrez Solana will allow us to reveal the paradoxical end of the Scientific Painting.
