摘要:This article, which fall within the field of Sociology of Education and the Generations, aims to discuss the youth experience in a poor neighborhood of São Bernardo do Campo, strongly affected by changes occurring in the labor market in the ABC Paulista region. The methodology used was essentially qualitative, developed through field observations and biographical interviews, conducted with family members (parents and children) and different leaders of the neighborhood. We conclude that the socialization of these young people was strongly focused on the job, especially around the "ideal metallurgical work", which influenced their educational investments and how they and their families conceive their future projects.
