摘要:Industrial and population growth has resultant mining and mineral excavation. This further altered theland use and ultimately resultant air, water and land pollution. Due to industrialization and human inference carbonemission in the atmosphere has increased tremendously resultant green gas damaging ozone layer of the earth which ismatter of concern. Forest is very much effective sink of carbon which absorb substantial amount of carbon dioxideconverts into fruitful bio-product like timber, food, fibre and fruits for human consumption. In the present article theteak future scope and potentiality for carbon sequestration and importance in climate change mitigation has beendiscussed in brief. In Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh forest cover have majority of teak (Tectona grandis)plantation which has significant contribution in carbon sequestration and have more potentiality to help in climatechange mitigation has been briefly discussed. Some issues of major interest like agronomical practices for sustainablegrowth, intercultural operation issues, soil amendments, use of agro-forestry techniques, mixing of other tree speciesfor teak plantation has prime benefit to carbon sequestration and climate change management were covered.
