摘要:Delamination is one of the predominant forms of failure in laminated composite due to lack ofreinforcement in the thickness direction. The delamination is common in laminated plates as the composite plates arehaving laminated structures. Delamination leads to development of cracks which reduces the strength of the materialand ultimately the material fails to bear the desirable load. Delaminations as a result of impact for a manufacturingdefect can cause a significant reduction in the load carrying capacity of a structure. The simulation of the delaminationprocess of composite laminates is quite complex and requires advanced Finite Element modelling techniques. Themodelling and analysis is done in a computationally efficient finite element method using first order shear deformationtheory.Delaminations with area a/3 and a/2 at four different interfaces are analysed. Delaminated plates with differentboundary conditions such as CCCC, SSSS, SCCC, SSCC and SSSC are considered for the analysis.
