摘要:Targeting a cost effective solution for low power applications, this paper deals with power factorcorrected (PFC) bridgeless (BL) buck-boost converter fed brushless direct current (BLDC) motor drive. By varying thedc-bus voltage of the voltage source inverter (VSI), speed of BLDCM is controlled and the latter is electronicallycommutated for reduced switching losses. For reducing the conduction losses associated with the buck-boost converter,a BL configuration of the buck-boost converter is proposed which offers the elimination of diode bridge rectifier. Theproposed PFC-based BL converter is designed to operate in discontinuous inductor current mode (DICM) to achieve aninherent PFC at the ac mains. The obtained power quality indices are under the specified limits of international powerquality standard IEC 61000-3-2 over a wide range of speed control. The performance of the proposed BLDCM issimulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment.
