摘要：A lot of discussions on the variety and identification of individualabilities and / or general competences arise. There is a lack ofunanimous approach among scholars. Relevance of the research isproved by numerous publications on human, intellectual, knowledgecapital, the impact of intangible assets on economic growth of thecountry and competitiveness. Some intangible assets could beeasily identified, it is easy to determine their value because they aremanifested in material forms, e.g. software, and patents; however,there is a increasing demand to identify and evaluate those intangibleassets, which are complicated in terms of determining theirvalue; those are e.g. knowledge, experience, abilities, and competences.The aim of this paper is to determine the potential of leveragingabilities to increase income of Lithuanian population by distinguishingabilities in the context of intangible assets definition andevaluation. The methods of research include the following: analysisof scientific literature, comparative analysis, questionnaire survey,summarizing method, statistical data analysis methods. Empiricalresearch allowed determining statistically significant relations betweengeneral abilities, population income and expenditure, andeducation. The majority of surveyed Lithuanian inhabitants thinkthat their income will not change, if they improve their abilities inany of identified domains.
