摘要:This article studies the labour integration of onward immigrants, those who have lived in a country other than their birth country before arriving to Spain and therefore have a previous migration experience. Specifically, it analyzes whether this group experiences more success in its labor market integration in terms of occupational attainment than immigrants who reside in a different country for the first time. To do this, data from the National Immigrant Survey 2007 are used. The results show that onward immigrants have a better occupational achievement when compared to other workers born abroad. The role played by the migration experience is greater for immigrants born in underdeveloped countries, especially if they are women and have resided in a developed country. In addition, the migration experience can mean greater performance to qualified occupational career paths.
