摘要:Background and Objective: The medical images of different modalities are produced daily in the different hospitals around the globe. These medical images along with patient information are exchanged between doctors in E-environment such as telemedicine to discuss therapeutic measures or to obtain second opinion from the distant doctor. A number of issues such as the integrity and ownership of medical images are involved during this process. The main objective of this study was to propose a medical image watermarking system for implanting two different watermarks into the medical image. Materials and Methods: A segmentation process was applied on input image to separate it into Region of Interest (ROI) and Region of Non-Interest (RONI) before implanting the watermarks. A simple least significant bit substitution (LSB) method was applied to embed the watermark in ROI. Whereas, the Integer Wavelet Transform (IWT) was used to embed the watermark in RONI. The CT scan medical image databases were used in simulations. In order to check the integrity of medical image, a fragile watermark referred as BP, composed of words KFU was generated by Microsoft Paint tool. Results: The results showed that payload is directly proportional to the area of ROI as with increasing the ROI, more LSB information is embedded in ROI. The slices containing the starting and end area of lung parenchyma showed higher value of PNSR due to embedding of low payload whereas the slices containing the middle part of lung parenchyma showed low value of PNSR due to high embedding payload. Conclusion: The proposed system has the potential to improve the security of medical image databases by addressing the issues of image integrity and ownership control. Overall, The proposed system, if applied will facilitate the public and private sectors by providing security in the medical image database archiving and retrieving systems.
